Sunday, 05/15/2022 The Basics Segment One: Basic Terms and Knots. In segment one we cover the basic vocabulary needed to properly communicate while discussing theatrical rigging systems. We also cover the most common knots in the entertainment industry and explore the different attributes of each knot.
Sunday, 05/22/2022 – The Basics Segment Two: Standard Operations of a Counterweight System. In segment two we discuss the safe day to day operations of a counterweight system.
Sunday, 05/29/2022 – The Basics Segment Three: Running a Fly Rail in Show Conditions. In segment three we discuss the unique situations and techniques that are encountered when running a fly rail under show conditions.
Sunday, 06/05/2022 – The Basics Segment Four: Mitigating Out of Balance Systems. In segment four we discuss out of balance systems and how they are a sometimes a necessary evil. In this course we cover some of the common scenarios where out of balance systems occur and the safest ways of mitigating the inherent dangers.
Sunday, 06/12/2022 – The Basics Segment Five: Pin Rails and Haven’s Grips. In segment five we discuss two useful, but often misused tools of our trade: pin rails and haven’s grips.
Sunday, 06/19/2022 – The Basics Segment Six: Adjusting Elements of a Counterweight System. In segment six we discuss how to keep your battens where you want them and adequate tension in your operating lines. In this course we will cover the best practices when adjusting loft blocks and tension blocks.
Sunday, 06/26/2022 – The Basics Segment Seven: Introduction to Down Rigging. In segment seven we introduce the skills needed to down rig for motor points.
Thu, 07/3/2022 – The Basics Segment Eight: Basic Bridle Math. Segment eight is an introduction to calculating bridle lengths and vertical loads.
A Zoom link will be sent out to all participants 24 hours prior to each segment.
The Basics is worth 13 ETCP recertification credits for ARENA Rigging renewal.
