FAQ
DeLong Rigging Solutions is a theatrical rigging industry leader and educator. We love questions! Keep ’em coming!
What is DeLong Rigging Solutions?

DeLong Rigging Solutions (DRS) is a client centric company that focuses on educating it’s clients and empowering them to make their own informed choices about entertainment rigging. We provide rigging inspections, rigging repairs and installations, custom rigging training courses, project-based services, retainer-based services, and project oversight.
What is Rigging?
Rigging is a broad term that encompasses arrangements of hardware, equipment, and systems that are used for the raising, lowering, and suspending of technical elements also known as loads. Rigging is often also used as a verb to describe the practice of suspending loads in the air and someone who suspends things in the entertainment world is called a Rigger.
Does DeLong Rigging Solutions work in my area?
Yes, we have clients coast to coast in North America as well as in Europe.
What equipment does DRS work with?
All of it. We have relationships with all major manufacturers and experience with a wide variety of systems, ranging from a Hemp System that was installed in 1897 to cutting edge automated systems that our NDA keeps us from talking about. If it was installed in the last 130 years, we can handle it.
How often does my rigging need to be inspected?
If it’s a static system, every 5 years. If it’s anything else, every year.
How long does a rigging inspection take?
It depends on what kind of system you have and what kind of condition it is in. Most inspections can be done in a few hours or a day. However some of the more complicated systems can take a few days.
So you fly people, right?
No. Human flight is a super niche portion of the rigging world, and it is the only thing that we as a company have a policy against doing. That being said, we have several companies that DO fly folks that we would be happy to connect you with.
We have a rigging emergency during load out, what should we do?
Call us at 812-650-0155. During business hours it will be answered, and after hours there is an option to get connected to a Dual ETCP Certified rigger. We would rather talk you through something at 2 am, then hear about an avoidable accident the next morning.
How often am I supposed to test the emergency closure of my Fire Curtain?
Every 90 days or 30 performances, whichever comes first.
Do I really need to close my Fire Curtain every night?
According to NFPA 80 (which is the law of the land on this topic), YES.
How far out do we need to schedule DRS?
It depends on what you are scheduling, but typically we are scheduling inspections 8 to 12 weeks out and other jobs 4 to 8 months out. However, if you have a need please reach out. We’ll make every effort to fit you in.
I am curious about the best way to do something rigging related, can I just call and ask DeLong Rigging Solutions?
Yes, generally speaking phone calls are always free. Contact us.
