We are firm believers that training is the cornerstone to safety. At DRS we offer a wide variety of training options. Most options can be done for ETCP Renewal Credits.
We offer a wide variety of training options that are meant to be customizable for your organization. Whether it is just a refresher, or training of new technicians we are happy to facilitate training in the safe procedures and operations of your systems. All on-site training is custom tailored to your venue and the unique challenges that it may present.
Our onsite trainings include:
- Know Your Knots*
- A Well Balance System, Standard Operations of Counterweight Systems*
- Mitigating out of Balance Systems*
- Adjusting Elements of a Counterweight System*
- Down Rigging Basics
- Up Rigging Basics
- Just Use Triangles, Basic Bridle Math*
* Indicates that it can be taught remotely
We have ETCP Test Prep courses (one for Theatre and one for Arena) that can be taught to your IA Local or employees. This course typically is two 8 hour days where participants would take a practice exam at the beginning of the course, and use that to gauge what areas participants need us to focus on. We would then spend a day and a half reviewing material that an individual should know before taking the exam. We would finish the course with a 2nd practice exam to show participants progress and give them a self-confidence boost. This course should be limited to participants who are eligible to take the exam and participants that are expected to become eligible in the next 6 months.
Our online selections currently include One Shot Training and The Basics.
Our One Shot Training program is a free online resource for all. It is a series of general overviews specifically designed to give individuals a solid start in learning our craft. This option carries no ETCP Renewal points.
The Basics is a series of zoom seminars that can be purchased through Additional Training Offerings. These seminars will meet weekly and cover all of the topics from our One Shot Training program in more depth.
We also offer Academic Guest Lectures (both in person and via zoom). If you are a college professor and you would like us to talk to your class, don’t be shy. We love talking to future technicians and will take every opportunity to bundle it into one of our other services (we also are happy to do it as a stand-alone service).
